Raised by an artist mother and a father who played professional golf, Campbell grew up surrounded by creativity and competition. A Tennessee high school state champion and collegiate golfer, he learned through the game to notice shape, light, rhythm, and composition.
Backpacking through Southeast Asia and Europe during college broadened his worldview and drew him to photography. Then Hollywood came South. In Greenwood, Mississippi, he joined the art department of a major Universal Studios production. Working on large-scale sets, he learned how performance, camera, light, story, and collaboration come together to make a world feel real.
After several years in scripted film, Campbell took his camera on the road, moving into commercial filmmaking and cinematic documentary storytelling. His first feature documentary as cinematographer won awards at Tribeca and earned an Emmy nomination, helping shape a style rooted in character, performance, and emotional truth.
Campbell believes in originality over formulas, craft over shortcuts, and films that feel honest, cinematic, and alive. Drawn to the energy of a crew working in sync to carry an idea from page to screen, he founded Little Village Films with his life and creative partner, Kathryn. They live in Venice Beach with their daughter, Zella.
